Magsealed Bearing:

Protection and smooth bearing action:
- MAGSEALED oil is a magnetic oil that uses aerospace technology to protect reel components and guarantee smooth rotation.
The new MAGSEALED bearings have been designed to last longer than ever. The balls are encapsulated in a completely waterproof bearing. The inner and outer rings are magnetised and joined by waterproof and stable MAGSEALED oil. The cage runs smoother and is protected from impurities.
- This means that the reel’s initial performance will be indefinitely preserved. The smoothness is beyond comparison to a waterproof industrial bearing: MAGSEALED oil removes the need for a joint, meaning you won’t detect any friction on the wind. These MAGSEALED bearings are placed either side of the drive gear in our flagship reels, so you can activate them with the slightest turn of the handle for optimum winding smoothness. The concept has been miniaturised to apply to the roller on some of our reels.


Mag Sealed:

Waterproof - Zero Friction - Increased durability:
- MAGSEALED oil is a magnetic oil that uses aerospace technology to protect internal reel components and guarantee smooth rotation.
MAGSEALED technology is based on a magnetic oil developed by NASA. This liquid joint was originally used for the internal workings of hard drives – providing dustproofing but not waterproofing. Daiwa engineers took on the challenge of creating a waterproof oil, working to control the intensity of the magnetic force. This took hundreds of trials with adjustments down to micron level! The technology has been tried and tested on the water with the world’s top specialists in each discipline, and it has produced a demonstrable gain in the smoothness of rotation.

Maintenance of your Mag Sealed Reel:
- The highly technical Mag Sealed oil is stabilised in a magnetic field and as such must not be mixed with any other component, be it an oil, grease or solvent. Do not spray a releasing agent or lubricating oil on a reel with this technology.
Magsealed oil is held in place by magnetic force and does not degrade over time, thereby improving the smoothness and lifespan of the reel. After each session, you ideally want to rinse the reel with a gentle hose (without a booster) then dry it with a clean rag having spun the handle to shake off any excess water.

There is no need for an annual deep clean. If you’re giving the reel heavy use, especially in saline environments, you can send it to your Daiwa distributor to have the Mag Sealed technology checked by a member of Daiwa’s After Sales Service team. Only Daiwa´s After Sales Service has access to the original MagSealed Oil, which is not available for general purchase. Our technicians are trained and qualified to handle reels with this technology.

ATD Drag:
- The ATD boasts discs which have been impregnated with a specialist grease to optimise energy yield. This exceptionally high-quality product gives more grinding power at the start and offers a more stable and progressive drag. The risk of breaking off on the fight is kept to a minimum as the ATD adjusts to every phase of the fight: working faster and more progressively on the first run but offering a firmer hold for cranking power in the middle phase. It’s this adaptive feature that gives it its Automatic name.
Smoother, more controlled fights are guaranteed with the Daiwa ATD. Locking the knob is more accurate and the inner base of the spool fits better onto the shaft to reduce drag pulsing.

UTD:
- A powerful drag system boasting new, tougher discs which eliminate splutters, giving you more strength and accuracy on the fight.

Air Rotor:
- Improved winding comfort, The Air Rotor stands out for its balance, toughness and sensitivity. The arched profile and 15% weight reduction compared to standard rotors offers optimal winding smoothness and eliminates vibration thanks to the lowered centre of gravity.
- Strength Tests: When pressure is applied to a rotor, standard models weaken at the points indicated in yellow and red while the Air Rotor spreads the load over its entire arched structure.


Zaion:

Strong - Light - Anticorrosion:
- Some of Daiwa’s reel bodies and rotors are made from Zaion, an exclusive high-density carbon with anti-corrosion properties that’s both lighter and tougher than magnesium. Zaion’s engineers set out to build a material that was as tough as metal but as light as carbon. Conventional wisdom holds that an aluminium reel offers toughness while polycarbonate is needed to make a light body and rotor.
ZAION is a fusion of these two qualities. While ordinary carbon is made of nylon 6-6 resin and carbon fibres at 20%, ZAION boasts twice the density of carbon fibres. The result is a unique material that is as strong as magnesium. A ZAION body is 25% lighter than its equivalent in magnesium and 50% lighter than aluminium!

Air Metal:
- The lightness of magnesium: Lightness is the by-word of all reels made from this light and sensitive material, which is coated with an anti-corrosion treatment specially developed by Daiwa.

Super Metal Body:
- The Stiffness of Aluminium: Aluminium is the most rigid reel component material. Daiwa’s engineers have specially treated the metal to form an optimal micro-layer of stainless aluminium.

Hyper Digigear:
- Even tougher drive gears: This is an evolution of the Digigear made with precision tooling of C6191 marine bronze for a gear that’s both light and 1.6x tougher than Dura-aluminium.

Cross Wrap:
- This technology cross wraps the line around the spool for optimised offloading on the cast. This is absolutely key to preventing tangles and linespin.

Air Bail:
- The hollow Touch Air Bail is made from SUS303 steel and is 20% tougher than a solid titanium bail of the same weight, and with a lifespan 13 x longer.

Engine Plate:
- The side plates either side of the body protect the mechanics and boost the lifespan of your reel.
