Technology:
LIGHT AND TOUGH:
- LT is a new concept in Daiwa engineering which has produced new sizes of reels that are smaller and tougher than ever. The entirely redesigned Digigear drive is reinforced.
Magsealed Bearing:
- MAGSEALED oil is a magnetic oil that uses aerospace technology to protect reel components and guarantee smooth rotation.
- The new MAGSEALED bearings have been designed to last longer than ever. The balls are encapsulated in a completely waterproof bearing. The inner and outer rings are magnetised and joined by waterproof and stable MAGSEALED oil. The cage runs smoother and is protected from impurities.
- This means that the reel’s initial performance will be indefinitely preserved. The smoothness is beyond comparison to a waterproof industrial bearing: MAGSEALED oil removes the need for a joint, meaning you won’t detect any friction on the wind.
- These MAGSEALED bearings are placed either side of the drive gear in our flagship reels, so you can activate them with the slightest turn of the handle for optimum winding smoothness. The concept has been miniaturised to apply to the roller on some of our reels.
Mag Sealed:
- MAGSEALED oil is a magnetic oil that uses aerospace technology to protect internal reel components and guarantee smooth rotation.
- MAGSEALED technology is based on a magnetic oil developed by NASA. This liquid joint was originally used for the internal workings of hard drives – providing dustproofing but not waterproofing. Daiwa engineers took on the challenge of creating a waterproof oil, working to control the intensity of the magnetic force. This took hundreds of trials with adjustments down to micron level! The technology has been tried and tested on the water with the world’s top specialists in each discipline, and it has produced a demonstrable gain in the smoothness of rotation.
Air Rotor:
- The Air Rotor stands out for its balance, toughness and sensitivity.
- The arched profile and 15% weight reduction compared to standard rotors offers optimal winding smoothness and eliminates vibration thanks to the lowered centre of gravity.
Strength Tests:
- When pressure is applied to a rotor, standard models weaken at the points indicated in yellow and red while the Air Rotor spreads the load over its entire arched structure.
Air Metal:
The lightness of magnesium:
- Lightness is the by-word of all reels made from this light and sensitive material, which is coated with an anti-corrosion treatment specially developed by Daiwa.
Super Metal Body:
The Stiffness of Aluminium:
- Aluminium is the most rigid reel component material. Daiwa’s engineers have specially treated the metal to form an optimal micro-layer of stainless aluminium.
HardBodyz:
- The HardBodyz aluminium alloy components are stiffer than standard counterparts. Daiwa engineering guarantees ultra-precise and tough designs.
Double Oscillation:
- Double oscillation guarantees optimal line lay with no slips. The offload of the line on the cast has been optimised to keep the risk of tangles to an absolute minimum.
Infinite Anti Reverse:
- The new Infinite Anti Reverse system is activated with 4 times less force than a classic system.
- Less than 2g is needed to engage the Real Stopper system which eliminates any handle movement, bringing sensitivity to the next level.
Silent Oscillation:
- The perfect tuning of the contact points between helicoid and straight teeth create an energy yield close to 99% and silent rotation. Daiwa gear trains offer superior winding smoothness.
Twist Buster:
- The Twist Buster pickup roller has been developed by Daiwa and precision tooled to guarantee optimal line lay.
- The system minimises the risks of linespin on the retrieve.
ABS:
- In contrast to classic cylindrical spool designs, ABS spools are tapered to limit the risks of tangling on the cast. What’s more, the lip reduces friction to boost casting distance.
Quick Drag:
- The clue is in the name of this ultra fast drag!
- Transition from free to tight drag in half a turn of the knob.
- Instantaneous adjustment after the cast or on the fight.
CRBB:
- High quality anticorrosion ball bearings with a lifespan 10 times greater than a standard bearing.

TWS:
- The TWS (T-Wing System) Concept marks a new era in baitcasting reel history. This technological breakthrough increases winding accuracy and reduces line friction for longer casts.
- The T-shaped line guide aperture has a different function for winding as it does for casting. On the retrieve, an innovative hood closes down on the line, feeding it into the lower part of the T for accurate line lay. On the cast, the hood opens up, allowing the line to move freely within the larger part of the T - thus limiting friction, minimising the chance of tangles and improving overall casting performance.

I already have a Daiwa Emblema SCW 2018 which is excellent, with two coils, and now this one with three coils, two shallow and one deeper in the same color as the reel, a beautiful set. Shipping was decent time wise, and the reel arrived in perfect condition. I also own a Basia 45 surf type R,and a Shimano technium both of which are in the $ 500 to 0 range. This reel shares many of the same qualities at a much lower price. Seems very balanced and smooth. It's heavier but actually helps to balance the longer surf rods I prefer. Came with 3 spools. I think that it's a very good value and it's purdy.

The reel is good for both carp session and for fishing at sea, as there is a magnetic lubricant that prevents salt water and dirt from getting in. In the description they did not say that the reel comes with two spare spools, one as on the reel 0.18 × 300, the other 0.35 × 300 (330) . In the description of the reel (45) it was not said that the reel comes with two spare spools 0.18 × 300 meters and a second silver spool 0.35 × 300 (330) meters. Personally, I got three times 0.28 × 400 meters. Thanks to the store for the good packaging of the parcel, the Russian post tried and crumpled the outer box, but since the coil box was lined with air bags, everything came whole.
