Does this product perform tracking even when there is no GSM /mobile reception? Is the tracking real time in any part of the world providing the exact GPS location ? Is it done by satellite?

Hello, I'm interested in the product, my question after reading the other reviews is, what is the scope of screening? Example: put the equipment into an object through a mobile device, what is the maximum distance between the two, for the location and for how long would according to the battery?
