The HM390 radiotelephone can be easily connected to an existing NMEA0183 network. You can also receive incoming DSC messages directly to the NMEA0183 multifunction screen or to the multifunction display.

DSC emergency transmitter

The DSC system transmits, if necessary, an emergency signal with the vessel´s identification number to all vessels with a DSC device within a range of 30-50 minutes. Currently the use of a DSC device is mandatory on all commercial ships or generally larger ships. The emergency message is sent through a communication mode (VHF, SSB or satellite phone) from one ship to another until the message is sent to the Emergency Response Center.
All necessary information, such as position information and vessel identification, is automatically included in the emergency digital message for rescue operations. The acknowledgment message is also transmitted through other ships to the sender.
In addition to this DSC function, the radiotelephone has all the characteristics of a traditional radiotelephone.

Megaphone function

The HM390 VHF radio also allows you to combine an external speaker, which also acts as a megaphone, so you can replace existing devices if you consider it appropriate

Connection

HM390 can be connected to an additional unit in remote position. The second access point allows you to add a second headset to the upper cabin or to the deck of a sailboat. From this additional access point you can use all the functions of the VHF radio.

Smart GPS connection

The HM390 models are connected to an external GPS antenna to obtain the location of the DSC emergency transmitter. This facilitates the installation of the VHF radio, especially in small boats or if you want the location information of the VHF device to go separately from the navigation system.
