Daiwa Emblem 2018 QD Surfcasting Reel

The Emblem 25 QD was born out of the Castizm 25 QD and has been made lighter and smoother. The Emblem stamp is a byword for excellence, and the best components have been used to make this reliable, comfortable model. The Zaion carbon body lightens the reel while providing effective protection for the mech. The Digigear II drive gear powers this reel while the handle has been screwed directly into the body to give carp and surf anglers a powerful, compact reel with a large spool. The smooth winding action is heightened by the Zaion carbon rotor which has been shaped in an arc for optimal air resistance.

The Emblem features a special spool: with an oscillation height of just 25mm and conical profile (increased by 2 degrees on this model), line release has been optimised to increase casting distance. The QD drag can be set on or off at the turn of a button for total control on the fight.

MAGSEALED:
- MAGSEALED oil is a magnetic oil that uses aerospace technology to protect reel components and guarantee smooth rotation.
The new MAGSEALED bearings have been designed to last longer than ever. The balls are encapsulated in a completely waterproof bearing. The inner and outer rings are magnetised and joined by waterproof and stable MAGSEALED oil. The cage runs smoother and is protected from impurities.
- This means that the reel’s initial performance will be indefinitely preserved. The smoothness is beyond comparison to a waterproof industrial bearing: MAGSEALED oil removes the need for a joint, meaning you won’t detect any friction on the wind.
- These MAGSEALED bearings are placed either side of the drive gear in our flagship reels, so you can activate them with the slightest turn of the handle for optimum winding smoothness. The concept has been miniaturised to apply to the roller on some of our reels.

Air Rotor:
- The Air Rotor stands out for its balance, toughness and sensitivity.
- The arched profile and 15% weight reduction compared to standard rotors offers optimal winding smoothness and eliminates vibration thanks to the lowered centre of gravity.

Zaion:

- Some of Daiwa’s reel bodies and rotors are made from Zaion, an exclusive high-density carbon with anti-corrosion properties that’s both lighter and tougher than magnesium.
- Zaion’s engineers set out to build a material that was as tough as metal but as light as carbon. Conventional wisdom holds that an aluminium reel offers toughness while polycarbonate is needed to make a light body and rotor.
- ZAION is a fusion of these two qualities. While ordinary carbon is made of nylon 6-6 resin and carbon fibres at 20%, ZAION boasts twice the density of carbon fibres. The result is a unique material that is as strong as magnesium. A ZAION body is 25% lighter than its equivalent in magnesium and 50% lighter than aluminium!

Digigear II:
- The Digigear II comes with larger helicoid teeth for increased smoothness and longer lifespan.

Double Oscillation:
- Double oscillation guarantees optimal line lay with no slips. The offload of the line on the cast has been optimised to keep the risk of tangles to an absolute minimum.

Cross Wrap:
- This technology cross wraps the line around the spool for optimised offloading on the cast. This is absolutely key to preventing tangles and linespin.

Infinite Anti Reverse:
- The new Infinite Anti Reverse system is activated with 4 times less force than a classic system.
- Less than 2g is needed to engage the Real Stopper system which eliminates any handle movement, bringing sensitivity to the next level.

Silent Oscillation:
- The perfect tuning of the contact points between helicoid and straight teeth create an energy yield close to 99% and silent rotation. Daiwa gear trains offer superior winding smoothness.

Air Bail:
- The hollow Touch Air Bail is made from SUS303 steel and is 20% tougher than a solid titanium bail of the same weight, and with a lifespan 13 x longer.

Twist Buster II:
- The TB2 pickup roller has been developed by Daiwa and precision tooled to guarantee optimal line lay.

ABS II:
- In contrast to classic cylindrical spool designs, ABS spools are tapered to limit the risks of tangling on the cast. What’s more, the lip reduces friction to boost casting distance.
