Hello, They are waterproof for coastal use, but they are not waterproof! If you are submerged and with the force of the waves the water enters, the velcro does not have enough strength. Hope this helps.

Hi, the boots nicely sealed, as long as you don´t cross the level. Also you can wear thin Neoprene socks if you want.
